Job Description

Morgan Hunt currently require a Mechanical Technician for NHS based in West London/ UxbridgePay Rate: £24ph to 26ph Ltd.Hours: 37.5 hrs Mon to FriLocation: West London/UxbridgeDuration 12 months on going contractMain Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To work in accordance with the requirements of HTMs, Gas Safety Regulations and other Mechanical Engineering plant and services guidance.
  2. Carry out authorised and competent person duties as HTMs and Gas Safety Regulations requirements as part of the line management safety for all London sites.
  3. Assist the external authorising engineer (Heating, Ventilation and Gas) in the management of in house and out sourced mechanical and engineering installations.
  4. To provide supervision and training where required to other estates staff and contractors as HTMs.
  5. Provide cover to carry out approved and competent person duties as HTMs as part of the management responsibility for safe system of works.
  6. To provide cover to work in accordance with the requirements of HTMs the mechanical safety guidance for low voltage systems.
  7. To assist the external authorising engineers in the management of the respective mechanical services.
  8. Work closely with the Estates senior management team and estates staff to supervise the working practices of all mechanically qualified staff and contractors to ensure the Heating, Ventilation and Gas Safety policy and associated management procedures arestrictly adhered to.
  9. Be responsible for manage and maintain mechanical safety safe systems of work for in-house staff and externally provided contractors.
  10. To liaise with and support the work of the Operational Capital Team, undertaking new work projects assisting in feasibility studies involving close relationship with external mechanical and engineering consultants.
  11. Ability to access and interpret drawings, schematics and O&M manuals.
  12. Understand and operate the Building management control system ensuring optimum performance of installed plant and equipment.
  13. Ensure full compliance with Health technical standards and relevant legislation with respect to the Trust mechanical installations.
  14. Diagnose, repair, and service mechanical faults in mechanical systems and associated plant, equipment and services. Heating, ventilation, air conditioning plant and controls, catering equipment, gas installations and various other plant and machinery.
  15. Provide interpretation and guidance to senior staff for the procurement of all mechanical and engineering replacement equipment.
  16. Work with other estates staff offering technical guidance leadership and management support in all matters mechanical.
  17. Assist in the management and delivery of new works, mechanical and gas planned preventative maintenance systems and maintenance contracts.
  18. Explore new techniques and innovations to assist the continuous improvement process across all mechanical and gas services across all sites.
  19. Undertake mechanical and gas installation reviews of all systems, provide certification and provide recommendations for replacement equipment.
  20. Undertake regular Health and Safety audits and reviews to ensure high standards of Health and Safety compliance are maintained by staff and Contractors at all times.
  21. Assist in the management and control of mechanical and gas contractors on site, including those involved on Service Contracts, Measured Term Contract, Capital and Day-to-Day works requests.
  22. Liaising with mechanical and engineering consultants on project design.
  23. Attendance of training courses for progression, updates and refreshers in the pursuit of "Continual Professional Development" and life long learning.
  24. Have basic understanding of the working of building and electrical systems and a sound and thorough working knowledge of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, cold water and gas installations and systems.
  25. Carry out new works, reactive, routine and planned preventative maintenance requests.
  26. Maintain and update maintenance records.
  27. Use test instruments and craft skills to diagnose faults and carry out repairs.
  28. Follow set procedures for entering a ward and tidying up after each job.
  29. Inform and advise Estates Managers or estates maintenance team on the status of works and the materials or other resources required to affect repair.
  30. To work with, communicate with and escort specialist contractors when required and ensure they adhere to all policies and procedures.
