An exciting opportunity had arisen in our Transport Policy and Transport Studies Teams, with several roles: 3 Transport Planners (2 x full-time and 1 x two-year fixed contract) - £35,382 to £39,246 2 PDP Graduate Transport Planners - £27,991 to £39,2461 PDP Graduate Transport Planner and Modeller - £27,991 to £39,246This role is open to remote working meaning you arent required in the office 5 days a week. The role of the Transport Policy Team is to lead the Councils thinking on our greener futuresorganisational priority by developing a prioritised strategy and programme to create a large and rapid shift to active / sustainable travel modes.The TeamThe Transport Policy Team works with teams across the ETI (Environment Transport and Infrastructure) Directorateto: Develop transport policies to shape work across the Council Secure funding from central government and other local agencies Develop walking and cycling infrastructure in Surrey Maintain strategic and local relationships with DfT, TfSE, LEPs, Boroughs &DistrictsThe RoleDo you have an interest in pursuing a career within Transport Planning If yes, then this is a great opportunity to build your career with an organisation which will train and invest in you.As a graduate transport planner / modeller, you willbe working with Transport Planners, Engineers, Project Managers, Elected members and Contractors for the development and review of transport strategies and major transport projects. You will support with the operational delivery of the Transport Policy teamby assisting transport planners in the management of projects and programmes. You will support Team Leaders with the preparations of projects, strategies and consultations to develop and implement sustainable travel options to meet our Climate Change targets.Thisposition is a professional development programme (PDP). Alongside your work, you will be expected to undertake a sponsored professional qualification at a post-graduate level. The course duration is between about 2-3 years. You will benefit from paid timeoff to study and from an accelerated pay progression upon meeting your learning objectives. Mentoring will be provided by experienced colleagues and progression will be regularly monitored through one-to-one meetings.To be shortlisted for these positions yourapplication will clearly evidence your experience in relation to the below: Educated to Degree or NVQ qualification at level 5/6 in subjects such as Civil Engineering, Geography or Planning and/or extensive relevant experience. To be working toward or willingto work toward a professional qualification, with membership of a suitable professional body i.e. the RTPI, ICE, CIHT, IHE or TPS e.g. joining at Graduate Member level. Awareness of Transport and Highways policies and current highway and traffic regulationsand documentation consistent with the training and development guidance issued by professional bodies listed above. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with good negotiation, persuasion, influencing, presentation and reporting skills for use witha wide range of stakeholders Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects and represent the Team across the Directorate.
