Job Description

We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers.Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence. We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual with relevant experience to lead and deliver Applied Science across the full range of the departmentsprovision currently BTEC Applied science (and in development HNC Applied science and T level Lab science). You will be an inspiring lecturer who is gifted in delivering varied and imaginative sessions and will have a record of good retention and success rates.You will have an appropriate subject / professional qualification to degree or equivalent and be competent in the use of a variety of industry standard business software packages. You will also hold a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).The main duties of the post holder are: Deliver a flexible and innovative curriculum that is responsive to feedback from current learners and anticipates likely changes in demand from future learners. Deliver excellent standards of teaching and learning acrossall areas within the curriculum area. Undertake the day-to-day co-ordination of staff within the course team so that the College can achieve its overall objective of being excellent in all areas. Monitor retention, achievement and pass rates Required Skillsand Experience: Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or has recent and relevant industrial experience. Ideally has relevant teaching experience within the FE sector. Experience of planning/ development of new qualifications (Currently indevelopment are HNC and T level Lab Science) Is an outstanding teacher who achieves excellent levels of success Has a detailed knowledge and understanding of current teaching practice within the curriculum area Able to communicate effectively with studentsand peers. Previous experience of managing a team would be an advantage.
