Following a successful Emergency campaign to support Syrian Refugees in 2015 World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 andtoday we are the largest provider of specialist employment supportto refugees in the UK. STEP aims to improve integration for refugees through a targeted employment programme that addresses the complex barriers refugees face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK. We support all refugees, regardless oftheir proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and identify the opportunities they need to secure sustainable employment.We currently deliver STEP in eight locations across the UK working in partnership with NGOs and Local authorities - specificallywithin their local integration teams.Refugee Transitions Outcome Fund (RTOF) and this opportunityThe RTOF is a £13.99 million cross-Government initiative which aims to increase the self-sufficiency and integration of newly granted refugees. The RTOF will pilotholistic approaches, tailored to the needs of local areas, to address the challenges and barriers that newly granted refugees face.World Jewish Relief is a delivery partner within RTOF to provide employment support to refugees who have just received theirrefugee status. People will be referred into the STEP programme by the RTOF housing and integration providers. The North East RTOF initiative is set to run from September 2021 to March 2024.The Key aims of the RTOF are: Enable innovative and place-based approachesto supporting newly recognised refugees in the selected local areas Improve employment, housing, and wider integration outcomes for newly recognised refugees in the selected local areas and to increase refugee self-sufficiency Generate evidence about whatworks, to be able to evaluate the impact of funded projects on refugee integration and self-sufficiency Generate cross-Government savings Provide evidence to inform future policy, programming, and mainstream service deliveryMain purpose of the roleAs STEPProgrammes Manager North East you will be responsible for leading the STEP team in the North East, working in partnership with multiple stakeholders across the region. You will lead on the mobilisation, implementation, and on-going programme performance managementof STEP in the North East. This includes supporting and managing the partnership of delivery organisations to deliver on the programme outcomes and find sustainable employment for refugees in the North East. The locations this area covers are as below: NewcastleGateshead Sunderland North Tyneside South Tyneside Northumberland Middlesbrough Stockton on Tees Redcar and Cleveland DarlingtonBased in the North East of England with travel across the region and a commitment to travel to World Jewish Relief Office in NorthLondon one day a monthThis role is a fixed term contract until December 2023
