Working 5 outof 7 days and weekend working during peak times. It consists of 120 acres with a lake, wetlands,ancient woodland and extensive tree collection set in a rolling Surrey landscape. It is nationally recognised for its bluebells and autumn colour. We welcome over 160,000 visitors a year and are open 7 days a week.Our team of gardeners are multi-skilled, omnicompetentand passionate about the site. No two days are the same. You may be using your chainsaw skills one day, fixing a fence, leading a tour or using the brush cutter the next to keep the site at its best. You will manage two gardeners and report to the Head Gardenerand on occasions may help out at the other portfolio garden - Claremont Landscape Garden.What youll be doing:Youll love working outdoors and understand that our arboretum and grounds are as significant as our mansion houses, collections and our historicalplaces. Our visitors tell us how much they enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our well-kept outdoor spaces, which makes your role vital in making sure our visitors have an amazing experience.We dont just need your help to manage our beautiful arboretum,although this is an important part of the role; wed like you to help manage the team too. As the Senior Gardener in our team, wed like you to lead by example, with arboricultural and land management skills, but youll also understand how to manage the workloadfor this team, and deliver exceptional training to new staff and volunteers.Please also read the full role profile attached to this advert.Who were looking for:To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following: Significant practicalexperience in horticulture supported by relevant qualifications Have supervisory experience from a similar role Excellent knowledge of plants Competent with the use and maintenance of garden machinery including chainsaws, tractors, hedge trimmers, pedestrianand ride on mowers Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and practice
