Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our project team at Runnymede. With the help of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, were bringing to life the cultural and historical importance of our unique site at Runnymede where the Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. As part of a dedicated project team of conservation and community engagement specialists you will lead the construction workstream of this £2.1m project and provide support and expertise in conservation, contract management and capital works delivery to the Project Manager.So if you have experience of successfully managing the delivery of capital works in an historic environment and are up for a challenge, this could be the job for you. We strongly encourage and welcome applicants across all identities and backgrounds.What youll be doing In this role youll be responsible for delivering a suite of capital works including the construction of multi-access paths, landscaping, boardwalks, interpretation and two jetties. Its a challenging but exciting time to shape delivery of these elements at this high profile site. You will work alongside other team members who are overseeing the implementation of an extensive programme of audience engagement work, involving a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in order to successfully deliver the project and ensure its sustainability.Were looking for a chartered Building Surveyor with experience of sensitively delivering construction works in historic environments. You will work flexibly, be able to prioritise your work, manage expectations and deal with the unexpected. You will be able to set and manage delegated budgets and provide accurate and robust cost and programme forecasts. You will work in a collaborative way with internal and external stakeholders and be skilled at managing contracts and contractors.To support your professional development youll be linked with the wider National Trust Building Surveyor community, both regionally and nationally. Travel around London and the South East region may be required from time to time but most of your work will be in the Runnymede area.Who were looking for As an experienced Building Surveyor bringing places to life is what excites you. Were looking for someone who: Is a professionally qualified Building Surveyor (MRICS or MCIOB). Has a high level of financial acumen and strong experience of managing large budgets. Is able to demonstrate a passion for building surveying and working in a heritage environment. Is experienced in delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary environment and has robust knowledge of procurement, risk management and contract management. Is a good communicator with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders.
