Job Description

Quality Manager Competitive DOE + benefitsSouth West England Our ClientOur client is the UK stand-alone subsidiary of a world leading heavy industries manufacturer in their field of engineering and technology. The business accounts for 14 per cent of the global organisation which has annual sales revenues of over $15 billionfrom around over 90 subsidiaries and with 35,000 employees globally. That business has sites in Japan, USA, India, Korea, and China, in addition to Plymouth, where the factory manufactures Staffa motors, axial piston pumps and other hydraulic components withthe majority of these being exported all over the world.The products are used by global brands for machinery used in construction and industrial applications, with many of the pumps and motors exported around the world. The Plymouth factory, on the banks of the River Tamar, also services the marine sector andoffshore industries.The Role As Quality Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all quality and supplier Quality Management systems and procedures. You will ensure that they are maintained and continuously developed and reviews in line with business and company needs.Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the Quality Dept to achieve the required performance results aligned with the companys strategy "Top Brand" and customer specific requirements.
  • Lead the team through effective communication, coaching & recognition. Undertake appraisals, performance management and identify training needs.
  • To prepare and present at the monthly Strategy Meeting A3s detailing quality control, development & performance against KPIs for to maintain progression and alignment to the Mother Strategy.
  • Key in front end New Product Introduction (NPI) & design, ensuring an APQP approach to building quality into new product & processes using tools such as: QFD, DFMEA, PFMEA, SPC, PPAP sign off including: PSW, Control plans, MSA etc.
  • To lead, coach & oversee all root cause investigations on key quality issues following the KPM UK structured 8D approach, utilising 6 sigma & SPC tools.
  • To lead & chair the weekly Customer Quality Review Meeting to ensure progress & maintain improvement momentum with a focussed cross functional approach.
  • Perform any other duties/tasks within the skills & capability of the incumbent, as instructed by the Manufacturing Manager.
To be successful in this role you should have a degree or HND in a relevant discipline or equivalent through experience. You should also have previous experience with ISO9001 /14001 AND 45001.
