This is an opportunity to contribute to the community within Bristol by becoming an Academy Ambassador at Trust in Learning Academies (TiLA).The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.The opportunityTrust in Learning Academies oversees two primary schools, a secondary school and an all-through learning campus (for pupils aged 3 - 16) based in Bristol. Trust in Learning (Academies) (TiLA) in Bristol was created in order to improve the educational opportunities and outcomes for pupils and students in areas of disadvantage. The trust operates with a budget of £20 million, currently employs 430 members of staff across its schools and has a total cohort of 2,967 students. Meetings are held virtually or when safe to do so at the Trust House, Bristol BS13 0RG.The board seeks one business leader with board level experience in Branding/ Marketing IT/ Technology Finance Director/CFOAs a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the following over the next 12 - 24 months: The short-term priority is to address pupils wellbeing and plug any learning gaps which have arisen as a result of Covid-19. With improved outcomes the Trust will move to a position when it will be able to continue its growth. A further challenge will be ensuring that systems and capabilities are in place to enable such growth. Some of the schools have new senior leaders or succession planning needs in the near future. Sustaining and developing high quality senior leaders and organisational change will be key challenges as the schools fully re-open following lockdown 3.Whats involvedBoard governance in education is a strategic, eyes on, hands off commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours time per month.You will be responsible for: Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spentAs an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role.All roles are pro bono.People from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.What next Please register your interest now to be considered for the role.Please be aware the closing date may change if we have received sufficient applications.
