This is an opportunity to contribute to the community within Bristol by becoming an Academy Ambassador at Trust in Learning Academies (TiLA).Members provide independent oversight to the work of the board of trustees to ensure suitable accountability for decision making and strategy. As multi-academy trusts (MATs) grow and develop, they face significant challenges. This role enables professionals to use skills and experience gained throughout their career to help trusts across England and improve the life chances of young people. All roles are pro bono.The opportunityTrust in Learning Academies oversees two primary schools, a secondary school and an all-through learning campus (for pupils aged 3 - 16) based in Bristol. Trust in Learning (Academies) (TiLA) in Bristol was created in order to improve the educational opportunities and outcomes for pupils and students in areas of disadvantage. The trust operates with a budget of £20 million, currently employs 430 members of staff across its schools and has a total cohort of 2,967 students. Meetings are held virtually or when safe to do so at the Trust House, Bristol BS13 0RG.The board seeks one business leader with board level experience in: Entrepreneur/ Founder Executive leadership in Commercial or charitable organisation Non-executive/ TrusteeApplicants should have an extensive and demonstrable background in senior leadership roles, with strategic vision and knowledge of the non-executive director role. Whats involvedMembers have a similar role to the shareholders in a company limited by shares. They provide high-level oversight and scrutiny of the work of the trust board.Most notably, members: define the trusts charitable object and governance structure; amend the articles of association; appoint or remove trustees; appoint the trusts auditors and receive the trusts annual audited accounts; and, ultimately, dissolve the academy trust if required.Members will typically meet once per year with preparation time required.
