Job Description

Are you a Linux Engineer who wants to push a side your general IT support and focus on more project based work If so continue reading…One of Wiltshires fastest growing businesses is keen to employ Linux Engineers or Linux System Administrators, whose main will focus will be the completion of Greenfield Projects for New & Existing Customers.Being a Linux Engineer / Linux System Administrator you will work with customers face-to-face, helping deliver on-premise infrastructure and cloud based solutions, as well as taking on a wide range integration, delivery and implementation activities.You other responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance and familiarisation to customers deploying and using the companys solution.
  • Building and maintaining lab environments.
  • Managing and supporting Linux server operating systems.
  • Maintaining and supporting virtualisation software and infrastructure.
  • Patching and updating operating systems and software on company servers.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of company products, technologies and competitors.
  • Automating processes to increase functionality, efficiency and simply processes.
  • Required knowledge:
  • Management and support of Linux Operating systems, any flavour welcome (Redhat, Ubuntu, Centos, Fedora, Debian, Solaris, Suse, RHEL).
  • Maintenance and support of virtualised software/environments (Xen, VMWare, KVM or Hyper-V).
  • Exposure to resilient and redundant file systems (ZFS and DRBD, btrfs, LVM, RAID, CEPH, clustering solutions).
  • Shell scripting (BASH, Python, Perl, Ruby, or PowerShell).
