In all our people decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable andtransparent.We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.About the TeamPart of a Dorset hub thats been helping people since 2000, the Intensive Floating Supportservice will be based in Weymouth and work with people who have multiple and complex needs who have been accommodated by Dorset Council under the recent Everyone In initiative. It will link in with the work being done by other Shelter teams, especially HousingFirst, and will take a multi-agency approach working closely with other organisations such as health, social care and substance misuse services. The focus on this new initiative will be on the individual and meeting their needs. We aim to take a harm reductionapproach and build on the strengths of each person to effect positive change in their lives.About the RoleThis role involves visiting clients in their own homes or community locations, predominantly in Weymouth or North Dorset areas. You will place clientsdirectly into their own accommodation, develop person centred and co-produced support plans, and act as a key worker to help them sustain their accommodation and move forward with their recovery. On any given day you might be coordinating interventions toensure that the right support is provided at the right time or giving advice on issues like housing options, tenancy issues (e.g. dampness and disrepair), welfare and housing benefits, debt or employment. In short, you wont be short of challenges.We are happyto talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.About youProactive, creative and client-focused, you have good knowledge of homelessness and housing legislationand welfare benefits and experience of working within a safeguarding framework. Whats more, youre not afraid to challenge the status quo and support the introduction of new ideas, methods and processes, where appropriate. Proficiency using a range of ITtools to carry out your work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc. is important too, while the ability to type is preferred.
