Job Description

Head of IT DevelopmentAre you an IT Development Manager with experience of leading and managing a team of software developers, supporting them in building industry leading, robust, and innovative software solutionsDo you have experience managing the development and maintenance of 24/7 software applicationsDo you have working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, React, Java, Ansible, Dockers and HibernateWould you be interested in full-time working from home with only occasional travel into London for meetings etc.Would a starting salary in the £70-75k be appealing to you with a host of other benefitsIf the answers are yes, Our client, a market leader in the Employee Wellbeing field is looking to hire a Head of IT Development to lead and manage a team of software developers, supporting them in building industry leading, robust, and innovative software solutions.What you need to have

  • Managing hybrid teams comprising in-house and offshore resources.
  • Managing the development and maintenance of 24/7 software applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, React, Java, Ansible, Dockers and Hibernate.
  • Experience supporting the availability of software applications internationally.
  • Experience of keycloak, slack,the cloud, involvement in BCP will be really helpful.

What you get in return*Starting Salary £70-75k*A start date as soon as possible*24 days holidays (excluding bank holidays).*External GP and EAP services to staff.*Working hours from 08:30 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday.*Home-based/remote role although must be based in England.The RoleLeadership responsibilities:
  • To lead and manage a team of senior software developers and software developers. Line management responsibilities will include technical recruitment, appraisals, 121 meetings, identifying training needs, motivating and performance managing the team
  • To devise a tactical plan which can be collaboratively carried out by the team to implement improvements to our products, services, processes, and knowledge sharing within the team
  • To plan for team growth considering the blend/level of skills required within team
  • To facilitate technology and methodology decision making throughout team, including standardisation of system architecture, reusable code base development, versions of software tools, best practice, source control and deployment processes
  • To make sure that all training and support that team members require is delivered
Software Development Responsibilities:
  • To keep up to date with the latest software development technologies and methodologies
  • To drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the team
  • To ensure the team write clean and healthy structured, well documented code
  • To deliver code which is well tested and consistently error free
  • To oversee the design and build of a code base that has integrity and scalability.
