Not only will you play a key role in the formation this team but,as a senior leader at CRUK, you will share responsibility for driving forward our ambitious Corporate Plan. In this key role, you will be a trusted advisor to the Chair and the Trustees, as well as ensuring that timely and appropriate legal and regulatorysupport is provided for all matters across CRUK. As a member of the COO leadership team and an attendee at key Executive meetings, you will contribute to the broader strategic direction of the charity, supporting the organisation in its vision to bring forwardthe day when all cancers are cured.What will I be doing Make an impact every day by: Owning, developing and operating a Corporate Governance framework that aligns to the needs of CRUK, including councils, committees, legal & regulatory, risk & assurance,corporate social responsibility, ensuring lawful & effective board processes. Be a trusted advisor to the Chair, the Trustees, acting as an interface between Trustees and the Charitys Executive when required. Support Trustees to fulfil their statutory dutiesin accordance with relevant laws and corporate governance requirements. Ensure counsel is provided on legal & regulatory issues relating to CRUK core operations (excluding Cancer Research Technology Limited and the Research & Innovation Directorate) and ensurethat CRUK operates within the law. Be the main point of contact with Charity Commission. Create a positive culture for your team which recognises success, develops and drives high performance and rewards results.What skills are you looking forTo succeed inthis role you must have the ability to proactively communicate with stakeholders on key matters as well as a proven ability to handle matters of a particularly complex nature. Youll be able to bring to the role: Extensive experience in a Company Secretary/GeneralCouncil position within a large organisation. Proven ability to build strong, trusted relationships and influence at a senior level, driving decisions on matters of governance, compliance and best practice. Significant experience of bringing a sustainableapproach to corporate governance, risk management, business continuity, assurance & problem solving. Significant experience of team leadership and the ability to motivate others.
