Job Description

The Role & Key Responsibilities Job Title: Formulation Nutritionist (Piglet)Location: Hybrid - Melmerby, Ripon (required to be in the office on average 2 - 4 times per month)Are you passionate about animal nutrition and farming Would you like to be instrumental in offering young farmed animals (in particular piglets) the best start in lifeThis is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Primary Diets technical team to ensure class leading products and technical support in all of our markets (UK and overseas). Withfactories in four countries (UK, Poland, Spain and Denmark), the businessaims to become an international leader in targeted markets in the nutrition for young farmed animals. The current portfolio consists of milk replacers, starter feeds, specialist raw materials, starter feed concentrates and feed additives.In this varied role, you will join a team of nutritionistssupporting the provision of R&D, product development, technical expertise and services. You will be a critical part of diet development to enhance our product range and utilise market research toensure we continue to be market leaders in piglet nutrition. We are looking for someone who has an understanding and respect for feed safety who enjoys keeping up to date with the latest industry changes. You will also be an excellent communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships with our technical,production and quality teams. What youll be doing:

  • Diet formulation and set up
  • Up to date with legislative changes and legal declarations of the product portfolio.
  • Able to work as part of both the wider Primary Diets and AB Neo technical teams to deliver leading Research and Development.
  • Attending scientific conferences and relevant trade shows to ensure Primary Diets is well informed regarding current trends and market developments within the industry.
  • Collate gathered information and produce literature reviews on specific topics which can then be used to inform future technical decisions and research ideas.
  • Facilitate rapid progress of technical projects through direct management of a project, or coordination of activity.
As part of this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in research trials and data analysis, including new ground breaking trials at our own centre of excellence based in Spain. What youll bring:
  • A relevant scientific degree in animal science or similar
  • Masters or PhD desirable in relevant scientific discipline
  • Experience of working for an animal feed business in a similar nutrition/technical support role
  • Really understands what makes their customers, consumers and markets tick
  • Ability to translate research to deliver commercial value
  • Ability to recognise innovative opportunities
  • Strong communicator, able to work well with a variety of stakeholders
