Job Description

Blueprint have an exciting new opportunity for a Design Manager to assist in the delivery of a large-scale UK-based infrastructure project in the South West, joining on an initial 12-month contract!Our client is an international company, providing global design and engineering solutions across the Marine, Defence, Nuclear and Infrastructure sectors.The working arrangement for this role involves site visits 2-3 times each month.Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding: industry legislation, codes/standards, Design Engineering Practices and Design Management (including Systems Engineering).
  • Ensuring company/departmental design, safety and quality procedures/requirements are met.
  • Utilising project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience to co-ordinate technical design packages and agree objectives.
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation of processes and activities, with appropriate records maintained and configuration/quality controls applied.
  • Project Management, using technical leadership, interpersonal skills, editorial/briefing skills and Systems thinking.
The chosen candidate will:
  • Have a degree in an appropriate engineering disciplined and Chartered Engineer status.
  • Be a UK British National and be eligible (or hold already) SC Clearance.
  • Have completed a Nuclear Introductory Course or have equivalent nuclear/marine system knowledge.
  • Have relevant knowledge/skills required for the technical management of large-scale and complex design development through the design lifecycle.
  • Have knowledge of relevant computer applications.
  • Have experience of design support to construction, operation, refit/repair or conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
