Working within Ryburns award-winning Communications Team is a dynamic, enjoyable and worthwhile job. We produce a full range of professional-quality communications materials in house for Ryburn and, increasingly, for other schools. Our work includes video,print, digital, social media and live events, making this a varied and interesting role. We seek to deliver outstanding school communications and demonstrate how impactful our work can be not only on marketing but in supporting whole school improvement andstrategic plans.Were looking for an experienced Communications Manager with a broad based skillset including expertise in design and branding, perhaps gained outside the education sector, to lead the schools communications work. Youll be experienced inmanaging creative projects, juggling priorities and deadlines, and ideally in managing staff or design contractors. You will know your way around a Mac and a DSLR, be proficient in Photoshop and InDesign, and confident in writing engaging copy for a rangeof purposes and audiences.Youll be supported by an Assistant and a highly skilled Media Specialist / Videographer, and by a Senior Leadership Team who understand, respect and value the Communications Team. You will have the chance to work with students andteachers in a role which is rewarding and never dull.See www.rvhs.co.uk and our social channels for an insight into what our team does for the school.Main roles and responsibilities: Design: creative direction and graphic design including ads, brochures, leaflets,social media graphics using Adobe CS. Weve designed all sorts from school ties to a bespoke lectern, from a staffroom makeover to animated gifs. Social media: leading our social media channels, managing, monitoring and producing creative content includingFacebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Linkedin to promote the school and engage our stakeholders. Photography: taking, selecting, commissioning and editing photography for a range of purposes. To work with the Director of Communications in supporting otherschools in the Trust and beyond with design and communications activity. Website: maintaining, updating and developing the school and sixth form websites including design and copywriting. (Squarespace sites). Events: contribute to the creative delivery ofhigh quality events, including performances, open evenings and stakeholder/community events, including managing elements of event planning, design and technical support. Ensure appropriate Comms/media presence at school events and results days. Internal andexternal communications: managing a range of communications including key correspondence, feedback, staff surveys etc. Engaging, maintaining and developing links with stakeholders including parents, alumni, business and the wider community. Management andteamwork: line management of the Communications Assistant. Working closely with the team to efficiently manage creative projects, deadlines and priorities and to ensure output is consistently high quality. Manage resources including equipment, design assets,photo library and communications budget. Ensure correct practice is followed in licensing and copyrighted content, photo consent, GDPR and other statutory guidelines. Act as brand guardian, ensuring house style, guidelines, quality, values and key messagesare consistently followed. Provide communications support to all areas of the school as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.Desirable skills and experience: Excellent visual design and technical skills, including proficient use of Adobe CS. Excellent communicationskills, able to adopt nuances of tone and messaging, to engage, persuade or inform a range of different audiences. A strong track record of devising and delivering effective design and communication campaigns across a range of media. Broad based communicationsskillset including design, copywriting, digital and social media. Collaborative teamwork and leadership skills, managing creative projects across teams to meet goals and deadlines.
