Job Description

Blueprint have an exciting new opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer to assist in the delivery of a large-scale UK-based Defence project in the South West, joining on an initial 12-month contract!Our client is an international company, providing global design and engineering solutions across the Marine, Defence, Nuclear and Infrastructure sectors. They are willing to consider all levels of engineers up to Principle/Associate!The working arrangement for this role is mostly remote, with opportunities for occasional site visits.Responsibilities include:

  • Design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures to seismic codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions; particular experience in dock structures preferred.
  • Understanding relevant engineering and company/departmental procedures relating to safety, design and quality to meet discipline, post and project requirements.
  • Providing expert advice to the sub-contracted design houses to enable them to develop the design.
  • Utilising project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience.
  • Displaying knowledge of: architectural industrial building design, building services design and installation/construction techniques for Nuclear Safety related structures and buildings.
The chosen candidate will:
  • Have a degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership.
  • Be a UK British National and be eligible (or hold already) SC Clearance.
  • Have completed a Nuclear Introductory Course or have equivalent nuclear/marine system knowledge.
  • Have relevant knowledge/skills in the technical management of complex design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Have knowledge of relevant engineering office computer applications.
  • Have experience of construction design support, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
