Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Building Services, Energy and Sustainability Manager.THE ROLEThis is a key role that sits in the Projects and Facilities team.Working closely with and reporting to the Head of Projects, you will support the On-Site Services Manager and contractors in timely undertaking of emergency, compliance and reactive works and management of upgrade projects. The role will also oversee the Colleges energy management and sustainability functions.The successful candidate will have proven experience in the Facilities Management field, with good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems and strong IT, budgetary and general managerial skills.ROLE SPECIFICATIONGeneral duties of this role include: Continue the development of asset registers and the Planned Periodic Maintenance system, tendering works and managing contractors involved. Data input into Computer Aided Facilities Management system (Flow360) and utilisation as management tool Close collaboration with the Health and Safety team, Boarding team and On-Site Services team to deliver system reliability and compliance Formulation of client briefs, procurement and management of mechanical & electrical projects Implementing compliance actions following servicing, inspections or requests, either through the in-house teams, or third parties Regularly inspecting plant, managing and monitoring contractors whilst on site and ensuring certification is registered within compliance management system and that maintenance is being undertaken diligently and correctly. Budget development for Planned Periodic Maintenance and Project works, budgetary reporting and management Utilities management - overseeing energy usage, brokerage of contracts and preparing reports to consultants and the Finance department, including regulatory reporting such as ESOS and SECR Lead on sustainability initiative implementation and planning, including master-planning for carbon reduction targets, plant room and secondary system upgrades, contributing to the development of new-builds, transitioning from contractor to in-house and incumbent contractorsPERSON SPECIFICATIONWhat we are looking for in the successful candidate: Proven track record in operational and facilities support, ideally with a recognised qualification in estates or facilities management Passionate about energy conservation and general sustainability within the Built Environment, understanding methods of assessment and communicating with College representatives and consultants. Working jointly with stakeholders to continue the development of masterplans, reporting against performance and preparing communications for the wider community regarding the Colleges environmental targets Experience managing a portfolio of building services, with the capability to understand the technical aspects of systems operations and a willingness to invest time in a bottom-up approach with consultants and contractors to develop and manage PPM schedules and oversee/report against these Experience and knowledge of: Contract management: tendering and procurement of maintenance and facilities services Providing facilities services across a multi-site environment, with the associated legal compliance issues Budget financial control and monitoring Health and Safety legislation/regulations with proven ability to proactively manage and monitor Planning and workflow IT tools (such as Flow 360) Flexibility, co-operation and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated, with the ability to manage and organise own time and resources effectively, ensuring deadlines are met Strong team player, excellent communicator and collaborator Aptitude and drive to lead process improvements, supported by technology /IT tools.Desirable qualifications and experience: Member of BIFM, CIBSE, CIOB or similar estates/facilities qualifications IOSH, NEBOSH or other health & safety qualifications.
