Assistant LibrarianLocation: Surbiton, SurreySalary: CompetitiveStart Date: As soon as possibleClosing Date: 8:00am, Thursday 6 January 2021Interviews to be held on the week commencing: 10 January 2022Job Purpose: To assist the librarian in the day today operations of the library, providing a high standard of service to meet the needs of pupils and staff.Tenure: Permanent, Part-Time (Job share) (2 days - Monday and Tuesday, 15 Hours per Week) Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Librarianat Surbiton High Senior School, a selective highly over-subscribed, independent school for girls. This is a part-time, term-time only post (36 weeks of the year) 15 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: Supervising the library in the Librarians absence Administrationof the circulation desk, issuing, returning and renewing items on the Library system Processing reservations and overdue notices Creating topic themed displays inside and near to the library Assisting with the development of and service provision in BoysPrep and Girls Prep School libraries, including running the library during breaktimes on occasion Maintenance of the newspaper and periodicals collection: checking newspapers and periodicals and liaising with library staff when issues are not received/arrivein duplicate Providing assistance with computer, printer, photocopying and other day to day problems that may occur Processing new library materials: i.e. covering, labelling and tagging items Monitoring the condition of stock and rectifying any problems asthey occur Assisting in the clerical work associated with library loans and borrowers Helping maintain an appropriate working environment in the library Supervision of and allocating tasks to volunteer pupil librarians Assisting the librarian with annual/bi-annualstock maintenance tasks: weeding, stock takes etc. Helping to run library co-curricular clubs.
