Job Description

The Public Health Intelligence and Insight Team (PHIIT) are active participants in delivering this analytic vision.The Public Health Department in Surrey is forward-looking with a strong focus on innovation to deliver improvements to the health and wellbeing of our countys population. In this role, you will be part of the Public Health Intelligence and Insight Team which provides intelligence to inform Public Health and system partners in addressing local health needs and reducing health inequalities, regularly collaborating with a wide variety of analytic partners to deliver joint intelligence. We are a team committed to providing a stimulating environment within which to work, providing opportunities for personal development through training, education, shadowing, and on-the-job learning.As an Advanced Public Health Analyst, you will be responsible for drawing together information from a variety of NHS and local government sources to deliver on an ambitious analytic programme to provide the insight necessary to improve the health of the population and reduce health inequalities. This will include COVID surveillance analysis and associated analytics, including deeper analysis on the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 in our population. You will be part of a public health analytics team with opportunities to make a real difference to local residents.You will also take a lead on project management of larger health intelligence projects (including working closely with internal and external stakeholders), as well as supporting others (e.g. public health analysts) in the team.We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated individuals, with experience of quantitative and qualitative health research or analysis. The successful candidate will be able to analyse and synthesise information from a wide range of sources and have a post-graduate qualification in a numerate subject (e.g. public health, statistics, epidemiology) or equivalent experience. The role will suit those who are substantially numerate, with a proven record of pulling together complex reports with excellent data analysis, interpretation, and presentation. Experience in public health analytics, epidemiology and modelling would be an advantage, including familiarity with delivering statutory returns and/or use of software such as R, Tableau, SQL or Stata.You will also have experience in project management and bring excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to the role. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your project management and managerial skills, while working on a wide-reaching programme of work.
