Job Description

A senior logistics appointment within an exciting and growing FMCG business.Client DetailsOur client is a growing and exciting business operating in the FMCG sector.DescriptionThe Senior Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading, managing and strategically developing our clients UK logistics operation, through the day to day management of the UK based 3PLs, global freight forwarders and haulier partners. The role playsa critical part in supporting our clients rapidly expanding global reach and in particular the growth of the digital channel. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the overall effectiveness of the UK B2B and B2C operations including 3rd party operated warehouses and transportation providers.
  • Lead the in-house warehouse operation that provides critical ancillary services to the business.
  • Strong supplier management in order to optimise the performance levels of all suppliers, ensuring performance to the agreed contractual service levels.
  • Ensure the overall effectiveness of global transportation covering sea, road and air freight.
  • Strategic development of a scalable and flexible logistics network to ensure our client meets both current requirements, whilst also developing and implementing the strategy to support significant planned future growth.
  • To ensure agreed logistics principles, strategies, plans, KPIs, values and business processes are embedded effectively across all areas of responsibility.
  • To act as our clients senior liaison with all 3PL providers.
  • Plan and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the logistics operations team.
ProfileThe successful Senior Logistics Manager will split their time across our clients two 3PL providers in the Midlands, the in-house operation in Kent and office in London. You will therefore need to ideally be based in the Northern Home Counties to effectivelymanage this. You will also need to be able to demonstrate the following experience:
  • A track record in managing exceptional logistics performance through 3PL management.
  • Experience within an FMCG logistics environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate where you have delivered industry best practice to ensure best in class B2C fulfilment.
  • Previous experience of developing scalable and flexible logistics operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills at a senior level.
  • Knowledge of import/export processes would be advantageous.
