Senior Design EngineerAdvantage Resourcing are urgently looking for an enthusiastic Senior Design Engineer to join our client, is at the forefront of exploration and detection equipment for the Oil and Gas and Defence industry based at their facility in Southern England. This Senior Design Engineer role will design, develop and manage innovative solutions within the marine security and defence markets. To oversee the product development process from initial concept through to full production handover.Testing, analysis and calibration of new sensors via use of state-of-the-art test equipment and offers an opportunity to challenge both analytical and practical hands-on experimentation skills* System design and responsibility for integrated multi-sensor products for marine robotics useThe Senior Design Engineers main responsibilities will be: * Manage the entire product development process from initial concepts to market release. * Design and develop new & existing products to internal and external customer driven specifications. * Engaging with internal commercial/technical teams and remote offices, aligning product development to the business roadmap and customer/market requirements. * Verify and validate electro-mechanical designs using classical hand calculations, finite element analysis and experimental testing. This may involve assembly of mechanical prototypes, environmental and type approval testing as required on a project basis. * Work closely with the Quality and Production Planning teams to ensure a smooth and timely deliverable is achieved. * Work collaboratively with existing and new suppliers. * To act as subject matter expert post-product design. * To maintain product documentation in compliance with ISO9001. Documentation contained within the department includes electronic and paper-based records in a number of different systems. * Provide regular status updates of workload, progress and issues to the Engineering Manager. * To contribute to the development of new working processes, practices, methods and equipment to improve efficiency levels, reduce costs etc. Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required Essential* Educated to Degree level or equivalent * Recent and strong experience, expertise and capability in commercial product development, delivery and ongoing support. * Demonstrable experience in creating innovative products, designs and solutions. * Ability to verify designs using hand calculations * Technical report writing skills Desirable* Experience of working within subsea instrumentation design including material selection and pressure vessel design. * Sonar systems knowledge is desirable * Experience in developing products for CE/LVD compliance with knowledge of relevant codes, standards and applicable regulations. * Experienced 3D CAD user (preferably Autodesk Inventor)* UK citizenship is mandatory to be able to clear the background checks and obtain unrestricted SC clearance.
