Job Description

Locum Housing Litigation Lawyer – South East England – up to £50 per hour dependant on experience – 12 month contract - Hybrid Working (4 days remote) Job Title: Locum Housing Litigation LawyerLocation: South East England: Working 4 days a week remote and 1 day at the Local AuthoritySalary: Up to£50 per hour dependant on experienceVenn Group’s specialist legal team are working in conjunction with a distinguished Local Authority in South East England in the search for an experienced Locum Housing Litigation Lawyer to join their team.The role is offered for 12-months as maternity cover and flexible working hours are offered dependant upon your situation. The ideal candidate will be a Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience working withinLocal Government on Housing Litigation matters.To proficiently manage a dynamic caseload spanning a spectrum of housing matters including:

  1. Possession Proceedings
  2. Homelessness Issues
  3. Allocation Challenges
  4. Succession disputes
  5. Fraud Cases
  6. Trespasser Disputes
The candidate should bring extensive experience in navigating contested possession proceedings and addressing Judicial review challenges. Essential to the role is advocacy proficiency, as the candidate must adeptly represent the council at hearings in boththe County Court and the Magistrates Court.More About the Role:
  1. Strategic Legal Guidance: Providing expert advice to Members, Officers and Partners, ensuring alignment with the Council’s best interests and legal compliance.
  2. Policy Support and Alignment:To assist the Assistant and Executive Directors in achieving Council strategies and policies though guidance and support.
  3. Efficient Legal Service Delivery:Ensuring the timely and effective delivery of legal services to the Council and partners, emphasising maximum efficiency.
  4. Technology Utilisation and Improvement:Optimising team technology for efficiency, actively identifying and implementing continuous improvements in systems and processes.
  5. Contribution to Strategic Objectives:Contribute to the achievement of strategic objectives outlines in the Legal Services Strategy and the Legal and Democratic Services Plan.
