Job Description

Overall purpose of roleTo:

  • Work and report to the Health & Safety Manager
  • Manage and monitor the delivery of health and safety processes at sites.
  • Work with H&S manger to write policy documents, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Work with project managers and sub-contractors within the project.
  • Liaise with senior project and other managers within the company, in order to ensure delivery of health and safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of skills and knowledge of site staff and identifying where training may be required (in line with the company training matrix).
  • Site visits and reporting.
  • Liaison with Technical, QA and Contracts to ensure procedures and manuals include all relevant H&S requirements.
Key tasks
  • Attend pre-start site surveys, project handover meetings and ongoing project meetings.
  • Attend regular H&S review meetings.
  • Work with H&S manager to prepare H&S strategies and internal policies and ensure all project managers are aware of all policies and procedures.
  • Carry out H&S inspection/audit visits on regular and adhoc basis for sites – monitor compliance and our company procedures
  • Ensure any breaches and risks are identified and corrected and flagged to site team.
  • Liaison with Contract Managers, Department Managers to arrange subcontractor training requests required.
  • Ensuring all incidents, accidents, near misses, improvements, site returns and issues are recorded accordingly.
  • Keep up to date with relevant changes in legislation, regulations and industry requirements.
  • Produce & write method statements and risk assessments where required
  • Upkeep of Health & Safety CHAS construction line
CompetenciesRole-specific:
  • Experienced H&S Advisor
  • IOSH (preferable)
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction
  • A good understanding and experience of the construction and insulation industry.
  • CSCS card
General IT:
  • Competent user MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, Microsoft Outlook email and calendars.
