Job Description

Head of Digital & Data Delivery - Flexible working options with London head office. We are delighted to bring to market a brand-new role for Head of Digital and Data Delivery role with a forward thinking and dynamic global organisation.The overall IT focus is responsible for the development, configuration, operation and enhancement of bespoke products and services that deliver value to both the client facing products & service lines and internal consulting services.The Head of Digital & Data Delivery manages the delivery group that has specific responsibility for building or configuring, maintaining and enhancing those bespoke products or services.This role is also responsible for ensuring that there is an effective development and delivery organisation to meet current and future demand, using internal capabilities and external partners to provide flexibility.You will manage 5 key direct reports with a broader matrix team of up to 50 people. This will include 4 main agile teams covering core product, automation, data engineering and an outsourced partner.This person will hold a key leadership role within the organisation and will be involved in the longer-term strategy of the business over the next 5 years.An example of some of the key elements of this role -

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the digital & data technology organisation to ensure it will contribute to the company achieving its goals.
  • Work with Director of Digital & Data Technology, IT Director, CDIO and other IT leaders to develop the overall delivery strategy & organisation capability in the context of the business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with product & service line leaders across the organisation to assist in building comprehensive product & technology roadmaps that are backed with credible delivery capabilities and plans.
  • Develop and enhance methodologies and practices for digital and data product delivery and support, embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build partnerships with 3rd parties to develop, deliver and support strategic digital & data delivery capabilities.
  • Ensure that digital & data development, delivery and operational processes (including those of external 3rd parties) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.
  • Day to day management of the agile delivery managers, non-UK based development organisation & 3rd party delivery partners.
  • Working with stakeholders to define a prioritised set of business outcomes supported with an agreed schedule of work to accomplish those outcomes within the capabilities of the IT, product or service line budgets.
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders to accomplish this work in a way that delivers quality products and services at pace.
  • Work with the Head of IT Security, Risk & Governance and CISO to ensure that the internal and external products are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.
  • Ensures that service level agreements, contracts and negotiations with both internal and external suppliers are always aimed at meeting the business needs of the organisation by providing a value for money service in terms of standards, quality, efficiency, safety, performance and cost effectiveness.
  • Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, legislative, national and international) are identified and adhered to.
    • What are we looking for in potential candidates -
  • Hands on experience of managing multiple agile delivery teams and 3rd party development partners delivering a portfolio of digital and data products.
  • Background in managing the delivery of bespoke software solutions, preferably on customer facing solutions and/or data services.
  • Experience of managing multiple multi-disciplined teams on digital projects which have included cross functional teams such as Designers, Researchers, UX, Product Owners & Developers.
  • Experience in managing multiple products & projects which have included a mix of internal and outsourced teams operating across multiple time zones.
  • Experience in running workshops, in particular, overcoming delivery issues, clarifying business outcomes and prioritisation.
  • Displays Innovative leadership behaviours - coaching the team, self-organising, transparent, respectful to peoples working styles, motivating.
  • Proven capability of working successfully with senior client stakeholders and end-users, quickly building successful relationships and establishing credibility.
  • A passion for digital and data enabled products, with the drive and determination to continually learn new things and develop yourself and others.
  • Financial accounting and reporting practices applicable to product delivery & delivery, costs and risks.
  • IT contracts, including software, development, agency and test contracts.
  • IT development, delivery, applications, operations, service and support organisations in a medium sized business.
  • Lean IT, agile delivery, and DevOps principles and frameworks.
  • Experience transitioning an organization from traditional to agile delivery methodologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering digitisation of customer and internal business processes using modern tools and techniques (such as workflow, RPA).
  • Previous experience operating in senior IT leadership and management positions.
