Job Description

Chemist / Analytical Chemist/ materials scientist (contract) 28.5k Prorata South East ABJ50533 month contract (initially) - asap start. (Interviews’ first week Jan)As a Chemist, product chemist, materials chemist or analytical chemist with a background in product development or chemical analysis you are required to join a global company to help provide a first class analytical capability solutions to support the rapid interactive testing in the Discovery stage of the Product Development Cycle, for innovative products.This enables the efficient product and technology development of projects with appropriate Analytical Quality Standards and Scientific Rigor, ideally with quick turnaround times.Responsibilities

  • Analyses of products using GC/MS and mass spectrometry to understanding of analytical science and techniques relevant to the analysis of products
  • Execution of prototype product characterisation at lab level
  • Booking in and tracking of samples/prototype devices
  • Sample "QA" testing, product performance testing
  • Report generation
  • Administrative support of individual product development projects
  • Liaison with Customs team to facilitate smooth shipping in or out of samples (devices or tobacco)
  • Recognised proficiency in some laboratory techniques used to extract, separate and analyse trace level constituents in complex sample matrices.
  • Ability to apply, from broad and thorough understanding and experience of analytical science, appropriate solutions or approaches to identify and resolve problems.
  • Work conducted using principles of ISO 17025.
  • Administrative support of individual product development projects
  • Contribute to the generation of internal technical reports and study plans and presentations via provision of robust data and project support activities
  • Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience Required:
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical science Materials Chemistry.
  • Product development, product testing experience in analytical testing
  • Relevant technical experience resulting in a thorough knowledge of good laboratory practice, principles of sample preparation, measurement & analysis and relevant experience in measurement & analytical techniques such as gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry or other relevant measurement techniques.
  • GC-MS
  • Quality conscious and methodical approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Work to SOP’s.
  • Able to work to good laboratory practice & familiar with common laboratory safety procedures.
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent team working skills and strong communication skills.
