Job Description

Your Responsibilities:
  • Arrange and manage assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983, following mental health legislation, Codes of Practice, and related laws, including the evaluation of MHA referrals.
  • Function as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), participating in a rota for assessments in diverse settings like the community, s136 suites, police stations, and hospitals, addressing mental disorders regardless of age.
  • Handle applications for hospital detention, completing required paperwork for formal admissions. AMHPs assess both informal and detained admissions, consulting with patients, relatives, and professionals, and considering specific requirements under MentalHealth legislation.
  • Independently assess the necessity for hospital admission, whether voluntary or compulsory, and explore alternative options when feasible. Collaborate with the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment (CRHT) Team to arrange care as an alternative to hospital admission.
Requirements:
  • Hold a professional Social Work qualification and registration (SWE)
  • Post-qualified experience as an AMHP
  • Ability to assess and manage risk, with a focus on service-users safety and well-being
  • Must drive and have access to own vehicle.
