Job Description

Job Title: WelderHours: 37.5 hours on a rotating shift pattern (AM/PM)Contract: Permanent, Full-timeDepartment: Production (Tank House)Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum (Once fully skilled) Start rate dependent on experienceBenefits: Regular pay reviews, training and career development, Company Pension Scheme, Private medical insurance (BUPA), Comprehensive bonus structure, share ownership schemeAbout the company:Whale Tankers is one of the largest manufacturers of liquid waste tankers and jetting equipment in Europe. Through customer interaction, feedback and design innovation the company have ensured that its brand stands for durability, reliability and ease ofmaintenance, leading to high residual values on its vehicles.A need has arisen for a Fabricator / Welder to join the team based at our Solihull Head Office on a permanent, full-time basis.

  • Working in a team environment to complete the tank build process.
  • Understanding the relevant legislation and procedures to ensure that our tanks are welded to the standard required
  • The role includes welding in both Mild and Stainless Steel at a variety of thicknesses
  • Work to standard operating procedures and engineering data sheets to complete the welding process
  • Work in accordance with Whale Health & Safety policy and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintenance of a clean, organised and productive work area
  • Effectively communicate with members of the team to ensure the process runs smoothly.
Job Requirements:
  • It is essential that you have MIG welding experience in both Mild and Stainless steel at various thicknesses
  • Pipe welding experience is desirable
  • The role will require the successful candidate to pass multiple welder qualification
  • Background working in a production environment
  • A positive attitude
  • Ability to understand SOPs to assemble components for our tankers
  • Good communication skills
  • Methodical and organised approach to tasks
  • Good time management
  • It would be an advantage to have a forklift and overhead crane licence
