Job Description

Configurator and BOM AnalystGeneral EngineeringSolihullSalary £35,000 - £40,000, 25 days holiday, pension, Bonus, Bupa and Share purchase scheme after qualifying period.We have been asked to support an established manufacturing company with a globally recognised brand for the design, manufacture and supply of commercial vehicle tankers and jetting equipment, this new position of Configurator and BOM Analyst is to developand manage the processes around the development and progression of robust BOMs and associated information and data. This is an exceptionally exciting time for the business as the invest and develop new markets.In principle, this role reports to the Programme Manager / NPPD and is therefore involved in supporting and coordinating the NPD and NPI processes to ensure system are set up correctly to support product build at a part number and systems level.Activities:

  • Main responsibility is creating and maintaining the configurator for all model types
  • Responsible for creating, developing, and managing all elements of the Bill of Materials in an accurate and timely manner, whilst managing the parts release and engineering change management process.
  • Works closely with the ERP system to help the company improve its production / engineering control close interaction with the ECN coordinator
  • Consult with multiple manufacturing and production management stakeholders to be accountable for the creation and maintenance of the BoM.
  • Control new part number and revision allocation in an indented BoM structure for all products.
  • Ensuring the BoM is accurate with regards to part specification, source, option codes and cost.
  • Ensure all action actions are correctly documented and reflected in the BoM.
  • Support Engineering and Purchasing activities through ensuring release of drawing revisions are accurate for suppliers.
  • Liaise with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • To update the Bill of Material / Master Parts List to reflect the configuration changes due to design modifications.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Previous configurator development experience is essential though.
  • Experience in Bill of Materials (BoM) management and/or Engineering Product Development processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel to Advanced level is desirable
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems a distinct advantage
  • Understanding and Interpretation of engineering drawings.
