Job Description

We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year so, it is an exciting time to join us!Slough Domestic Abuse Services delivers an Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy service across Slough and Safety Planning across East Berkshire.The main office is based in Slough with satellite locations in local Police stations within East Berkshire. Working closely with key stakeholders such as the Police, local authority, social services and community groups, the aims of the service is to provide an integrated domestic abuse response to survivors of abuse to reduce risk and facilitate a life free from abuse.Hestia is proud to be a Disability Confident employer and we welcome applications from candidates with lived experience.   • Knowledge of the support needs and support planning of women and children experiencing domestic violence
  • Safelives IDVA qualified or willingness to complete
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
  • Ability to manage staff as well as provide case working support to clients.
  • Experience of working within a multi-agency setting.
  • Awareness of risks associated with domestic violence in a working environment.
  • Knowledge of legal, statutory, regulatory and good practice requirements applicable to the provision of supported housing.
  • Working knowledge of the relevant housing law and welfare benefits that apply to women and children using the service.
  • Knowledge of legal remedies available to women experiencing domestic violence.
  • Provide an out of hours on call service as part of Hestia’s On-call rota
  • Willingness to mentor pool workers, students and trainees as required across the organisation.
  • Ability to manage the service (including supervising staff) in the absence of the Team Manager
  • Previous experience of using computer-based systems to accurately record work and client details
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to manage complex tasks in clearly defined time frames (including accurate records, reports, case notes and interpersonal communication)
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
