Job Description

Repairs & EngineeringYou will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the repairs workshop. This is an opportunity to lead a growing and dynamic technical team and develop the departments capabilities to take on new and bigger challenges.Duties Include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the workshop repairs team.
  • Providing assistance and guidance to supervisors in leading their teams.
  • Providing assistance and guidance to workshop technicians working on repairs.
  • Aiding the repairs administrator in pricing billable repairs as early and accurately as possible.
  • Aiding the repairs administrator in sourcing parts required to be purchased.
  • Ensuring any deadlines and deliverables the workshop is responsible for meeting are met effectively.
  • Working closely with external repair suppliers to manage the flow of repairs
  • Using RT pro stock control system to identify where all repair stock is located
  • Identifying priority repairs coming into the workshop and working to ensure their quick turn-around.
  • Liaising with account handlers on equipment returning from productions with known faults.
  • Liaising teams on equipment in repair that they require on up-coming productions and giving realistic time frames for their repair.
  • Liaising with the Inventory Manager about retiring stock which is beyond economic repair.
  • Working closely with the Inventory/Quality Control teams to provide them the technical services of the department in processing new stock.
  • Ensure the workshop is always maintained to a high standard in an efficient and organised manner with all equipment easily accessible and identifiable.
  • Work with the Support Warehouse Manager to ensure all operations are risk assessed and control measures are being adhered to.
  • Willingness to work between different locations as required.
  • Develop the skills of the repairs team through both internal and external training programs.
  • Develop and expand the capabilities of the repairs workshop.
Person Specification:
  • Prior electrical repairs experience.
  • Prior team management experience.
  • Must be IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to learn stock control inventory system (Rental tracker Pro).
  • Must be able to confidently communicate with internal colleagues and external suppliers.
  • Be able to build strong working relationships with manager, colleagues and external suppliers.
  • Be able to work under pressure to changing deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan workload and keep track of multiple jobs.
  • Experience in the lighting industry of events, theatre or film is desirable but not essential
