Job Description

Are you an experienced teaching assistant looking for a new challenge Do you have the skills and qualifications to take on more responsibility and lead learning activities in a diverse and vibrant schoolIf so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) at a Primary school in Slough.The Primary School is a friendly and inclusive school that serves a multicultural community in the heart of Slough. They have a population of over 400 pupils from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities. We are proud of our high standards of teaching andlearning, as well as our rich and varied curriculum that caters for the needs and interests of all our learners.As an HLTA, you will work under the guidance of a qualified teacher to plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, groups or whole classes. You will also monitor pupils’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents. You will havea specific area of expertise in the development of learning and well-being of children and young people, such as literacy, numeracy, SEN or EAL. You will also support other teaching assistants and contribute to the professional development of the school staff.To be eligible for this role, you will need to have:

  • A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as a teaching assistant
  • Evidence of meeting the HLTA standards2
  • A good command of English and at least one other language spoken by our pupils (such as Urdu, Polish or Arabic)
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A positive attitude and a passion for education
