Job Description

Immediate start 9 month contract, data governance/architecture expert, global pharmaceutical company, Slough Your new companyYoull be joining a rapidly growing and diverse pharmaceutical company working on the next generation of therapies for neurological conditions, currently investing heavily into growing their data teams.This company has a great corporate atmosphere and is looking for someone to take on the leadership of a significant data governance and information management project that will help transform the business.Your new roleThis is a strategic role, influencing and working with senior members of the company to develop and deliver an overarching data governance plan/structure.This is initially a 9 month contract with an immediate (or as close as possible to this) startResponsibilities will include but arent limited to:

  • Develop an overarching (long terms) strategy addressing all the framework facets: quality, architecture, infrastructure, data storage solutions, data integration approach, etc.
  • Define a simple charter and goals of the data office and the overall data governance structure
  • Engage and garner the support of key stakeholders, as well as educating them and the wider organisation on the value of the new plan
  • Engage with 3rd party vendors as/when needed
  • Assess key areas (data, data flows, policies, technology, etc. inventory) to define priorities, establish overall strategy, priorities and next steps to execute.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities across the company within data governance and management
  • Look into and help solve risks and exposures (eg data security, GDPR, IDMP compliance, etc.
  • Help define the data office team structure
  • Focus on developing critical governance deliverables: data usage, access and protection policies, data guidelines, nomenclatures, master data definitions, etc.
  • Develop/document data lifecycle management process with clear accountabilities, R&Rs, policies, etc
    • What youll need to succeedYou should have a strong background in change management, data governance, analytics strategy, master data management or similar, alongside a track record in developing / implementing data governance strategies.You should also ideally have experience of doing this in the pharmaceutical/biotech or related industry.Strong stakeholder engagement skills are a must, as is the ability to translate strategy into actions.What youll get in returnYoull get the chance to make a real impact on the way this pharmaceutical company does business and leave a lasting impression.
