Customs and Logistics Specialist

Job Description

This is an urgent requirement to provide customs/logistics support to a successful international business based in the Slough area.With a background in shipping, you will already have substantial experience of international logistics and a good knowledgeof customs brokerage and import/export regulations. Hours of work: 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Working in a small team of customs and logistics specialists, your responsibilities will include:

  • Classifying product dictionary - ensuring all items have accurate product descriptions, appropriate tariff classifications, country of origins, ECCNs and preferential treatment based on regulatory requirements
  • Processing and managing import entries
  • Performing all activities related to self-filed customs entries for imported products
  • Managing and auditing customs entries performed by customs house brokerage firms
  • Performing audit on duty invoices, customs entries filed the company and by customs house brokerage firms to ensure accurate entry and duty payment
  • Coordinating applicable Duty/Tax payments to government agencies
  • Interacting with freight forwarders/carriers/agents where needed to collect documents, pay freight charges and other fees to ensure customs release and final delivery
  • Obtaining POD on all imports
  • Completing ISF or other filings as required to ensure compliant transportation
  • Liaising with Customs agencies on shipment arrivals where information requests, manipulation or other where needed
  • Managing drawback or other duty/tax claims - identifying qualifying exports, obtaining shipment documents, AWBs, proof of delivery, waiver letters etc., identifying qualifying import entries and providing management with required information to facilitaterefund filing
  • Perform and manage crossdock shipments - identifying inbound shipments, reviewing onforwarding requirements, coordinate order releases to ensure OTD, and coordinating with 3rd party onforwarding provider to ensure timely and accurate movement of goods afterdelivery
The successful candidate will already have experience in import processes, customs brokerage functions and international logistics. This will include knowledge and understanding of Export Administration requirements (ECCN) rules and regulations to classifygoods for export, the ability to process compliant and timely Customs Entries, and an understanding of duty drawback, duty deferment schemas and import tax refund processes.
