Job Description

Air Freight Manager Salary Range £45,000 - £50,000 (Depending on Experience) Location: Slough Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm (inclusive of one-hour unpaid lunch break) 40 working hours per week. We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Air Freight Manager. The role deals with managing a team overseeing the air freight operations, and REDS activities for the UK.Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Managing Director in the execution of their duties in support of the Managing Directors vision of the company to become more competitive and profitable
  • Understand and execute the departments vision of good business development in order to successfully move and develop Air Freight forLimiteds products
  • Ensure all Import/Export jobs are completed correctly on time including financial, legal and invoicing transactions
  • Ensure all customs import/export declaration forms on Airfreight are completed correctly
  • Ensure the REDS process is managed for the whole UK, checking documentation authorizing shipments submitting reds import declarations
  • Immediately report any amendments to the line managers and follow instructions by the amendments team
  • Assist the line manager delivering a training programme to all new starters in airfreight and customs when asked to
  • Complete ad-hoc and spot checks on customer entries and submit reports to line manager weekly
  • Maintain and utilise the operational system at all times
  • Maintain regular communication with sales teams reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments
  • Create new and maintain current SOPs for the department
  • Communicate quotations to the line manager/sales team within two hours of receipt and ensure all quotations are recorded on the system in one format
  • Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow in conjunction with line manager
  • Ensure all reports are generated by given deadlines and handed to line manager
  • Line manage the day to day workflow of department staff measuring activities on a monthly basis ensuring compliance to department SOPs at all times
  • Before releasing, ensure all goods under the Deferment account are approved for delivery via accounts and/or line manager
  • Ensure all invoicing for imports, exports and clients within 48 hours of activity
  • Follow up late customer payments in conjunction with credit control
  • Ensure all duties/VAT is charged correctly upon invoicing and collect any monies due in line with SOPs
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover as required
  • Ensure insurances are charged correctly and any insurance claims are handed to line manager without delay
  • Visit clients as and when needed either independently or with sales team
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Conversant with Air Freight operations [consideration of transferable skills]
  • Business Development
  • High organisational skills and ability to manage many projects and team at the same time
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CRM systems
  • An administrative background
  • Must have an analytical skill, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Working as part of a team
  • Able to work to deadlines and meet targets
