Job Description

Teaching Assistant (SEND Focus)Location: SkelmersdaleTradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support children within a designated SEND provision (DSP) in a primary school located in Skelmersdale.Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to children ranging from Year 2 to Year 6 with various SEND, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
  • Assisting in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities to meet the diverse needs of the students.
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of various SEND conditions and effective strategies to support learning and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are advantageous.
