Job Description

First Achieves Engineering Division are looking for a Manual Machinist to join our internationally renowned client. The position is permanent and our Clients State-of-the-art facilities are based near Skelmersdale, Lancashire.What is on offerIf you have Manual Machining Experience, you can expect a rate of pay in the region of £13 to £15 per hour. If perhaps Cylindrical Grinding is something you havent done before - we are more than happy to offer full, comprehensive training, with yourrate of pay reflecting this upon completion.What Will You Be DoingAs a Manual Machinist you will be focused in our clients Cylindrical Grinding Facility. This would encompass machining a wide range of materials and component types, working to engineering drawings and to a high tolerance of accuracy.As Manual Machinist, your work will also focus on these responsibilities:

  • Machining of parts on assorted machinery
  • Working with various metals, and coated metals.
  • Reading and understanding engineering drawings and instructions
  • Use of hand and power tools, overhead cranes and measuring equipment.
  • Taking and recording quality measurements.
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Taking part in team and individual based improvement activities.
You will shine in this role, when you have:
  • Demonstrable background within an engineering environment, with experience of manual turning, milling or cylindrical grinding techniques.
  • Proven ability to read and work from engineering drawings.
  • Collaborative team player, at ease communicating with colleagues throughout the business and via various means
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written.
We will be amazed if you also have some of the following optional experience:
  • HND/HNC Apprenticeship served qualification within mechanical engineering is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of grinding metal coated surfaces.
