Start Date: September 2020Pay: KR3 + SEN allowanceWe are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs and / or disabilities (SEND). This position is initially supporting a pupil within The Acorn Centre, a specially resourced provision for children with speech and language delays / disorders.The Oaks Infant School is a three form entry school on the edge of Sittingbourne, with children from age 3 to 7. We pride ourselves in having an effective, supportive and collaborative staff team. Our passion lies in delivering a highly motivating and child-led curriculum which values independence and creativity, and supports pupil engagement, achievement and well-being. Teaching Assistants at The Oaks need to be to be positive team players, providing support to both teachers and children. This role involves working under the guidance and direction of the class teacher and SENCo of The Acorn Centre but may include flexibility to work within mainstream classes too. You will be part of the schools Wellbeing Team through which you will be well supported, including receiving a bespoke programme of professional development.The post is full time, term time only, working from 8:45am to 3:15pm. The successful candidate is likely to have some experience of working with pupils with special needs and undertstands a range of needs and strategies to support them.We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are a three-form entry school with 9 classes for 270 children in years R, 1 and 2 plus a wonderful Nursery. Attached to the school is The Acorn Centre, a specially resourced provision who cater for children with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) for Speech and Language needs.
