  • The RoleAs a Senior Development Scientist, you will work within the Technical Development team on internal New Product Development (NPD), Custom Projects, Technical Support and Continuous Improvement Projects in conjunction with the Production Department.You will manage / work within the project team and complete practical activities relating to the project and ensure that the design and development activities are appropriately recorded to satisfy quality requirements.Other activities such as review of equipment monitoring and supervising of laboratories is taken on as required. The role will require hands on laboratory skills as well as time management.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;
  • Manage or work with defined Projects to successfully complete Technical Development projects to required timescales
  • Work within the Design Control system for specific projects ensuring the appropriate regulatory records are kept of product development
  • In the development process, find innovative solutions to get products to the end user
  • Meet commercial targets as defined by each Project Plan
  • Manage or work with projects and project team(s) in performance, design and execution of experimental work
  • Evaluation of individual and project team results, data reduction and interpretation throughout development
  • Co-ordinate and drive project activities
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all experimental work performed and batches of material produced and tested. Preparing and reviewing data and company documentation as required
  • Prepare and maintain project specific Design History Files in line with BBI’s Design Control System
  • Continue developing knowledge related to project work, whilst developing a broader awareness of BBI’s technical direction
  • To direct own work in conjunction with objectives for the individual projects
  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities
  • Ensure that all work the job holder is responsible for complies with quality audit processes (e.g. GMP, ISO13485)
  • Adherence to BBI Health and Safety requirements
  • Day to day maintenance of a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness in the laboratory and good housekeeping e.g. temperature monitoring of fridges, calibration of equipment
  • Train and manage members of staff as required
  • Contribute to internal project meetings and liaise with external customers as required. Co-host customer visits and meetings
  • Ensure good communication with all required personnel and departments
  • Write technical reports for both internal and external circulation for review by Managers
  • In conjunction with the Production and QA, write SOPs and QA documentation in line with BBI’s Quality System
  • Help recruit, train and supervise members of staff as required
  • Represent BBI at national and international meetings as required
  • Support Sales and Marketing and other departments with technical enquiries and liaise with Sales on new technical leads and proposals
  • Support product transfers as required

  • RequirementsTo be successful in your application you will need a science based degree, practical laboratory experience and knowledge of protein purification of difficult targets from specialist samples. New Product Development experience and input would be desirable, especially if it extends to recombinant expression systems.
