Understanding of the NHS quality agenda and an interest in Infection Prevention & Control are essential as this role will support colleagues across the business unit in matters relating to patient safety, the management and control of infection, education and development of colleagues.As an active member of the North Kent Business Unit Quality Team, the post-holder will support Adult Community Services across the Business Unit with the implementation of guidance, policy and education of all staff. This role will be expected to liaise with the microbiologists and pathology services and the wider external IPC services across the Kent & Medway Local Health Economy. The post holder will support clinical services in the delivery of IPC services and the reduction of healthcare associated infections.The post will include a high level of cooperative and flexible working, innovation, change-management and service development skills and information exchange with IPC colleagues.The post holder will be a nurse with a broad nursing background gained within a variety of settings with key experience particularly gained from nursing in the community.The post holder will be expected to have (or immediately start working towards) an accredited infection control qualification, e.g. post graduate Diploma in Higher Education, Degree/MSc and complete agreed competencies aligned to the requirements of an IPC Specialist Nurse role.You will be based in one of our locations in North Kent and will need to be flexible to travel across the business unit and the local geography to engage with stakeholders.We have built organisation-wide committees in many specialist fields. You’ll have the option to join your clinical specialism, networking with professionals from across the country. We get together regularly, auditing and sharing standard methodology for innovation and service re-design. You’ll be a part of the pool of subject matter experts bringing together clinical and operational leads. You will be a part of quality improvements, research and development activity.
