Job Description

Principal Quality Engineer - QMS & CertificationLocation: SherburnPermanentThis vacancy presents a brilliant opportunity for an experienced Quality Principal Engineer to join a forward-thinking organisation who are a global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of electric vehicles and are offering a competitivesalary and benefits package.Our client is a multiple award-winning Automotive Manufacturer who are at the forefront of Electric Vehicle technology and dedicated to a sustainable future.As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the daily management of delivering the Quality Management System and Certification for the UK and Europe side of the company. Managing the internal and external audit schedule, ensuring the businessis ready for future audits, while ensuring QMS becomes a standard part of the business going forward.Principal Quality Engineer Key Duties:

  • Ensuring audit teams are robust in carrying out internal audits ensuring the timelines and schedules are adhered to.
  • Manage the business to deliver to the audit schedule, track open issues and resolution commitments, robustly challenge the resolutions so ensuring they meet the audit schedule and the required quality standards.
  • Lead the audit schedule, liaising with the external authorities to plan the review activities. Ensure the business is delivering to the required standard and set up appropriately to deliver the external accreditations, so ensuring the company’s abilityto build vehicles.
  • Fundamentally as part of this role is the introduction of the Spain manufacturing site. As such there is a requirement to set up all of the QMS toolset at this new facility
  • Feedback to Forward Model Quality Engineers on issues found during future vehicles that require resolution prior to new vehicles getting to Job1.
  • Ensure the company Quality Management system is kept updated and relevant in line with any standard amendments.
  • Ensure reviewing and updating of documents through the business is done in a controlled manner and training is given to ensure a full understanding.
  • There is a requirement of this role to present to all areas of the business the expectations of their teams in adhering to the external accredited standards.
  • Work with external auditors planning and executing audits to ensure accreditation to standards.
  • Drive processes for Conformity of production testing to verify production vehicles in line with legal requirements and maintain necessary records. Lead resolution of any technical issues to maintain legal production.
  • Lead the team to set out a robust auditing plan and the area PFMEA’s and control plans, ensure the x-functional team reviews, updates and adheres to these plans.
  • Include the area PFMEA’s and control plans within the audit schedule.
Principal Quality Engineer Skills & Experience Required:
  • Team leadership experience
  • Detailed understanding of the ISO standards and their implementation within the automotive industry
  • Ability to plan and lead the auditing schedule in support of the COP requirements.
  • Automotive experience
  • Experienced in practical problem solving.
  • Broad engineering and manufacturing knowledge
  • Experienced in inspection systems.
  • Experience in Auditing and lead vehicle audits with external authorities
  • Proven ability to develop and audit schedule that meets the applicable standard and to the lead the business through the external audits.
  • Experience and understanding of QMS.
  • Must be able to negotiate with internal and external departments to ensure that audit requirements are delivered to schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Engineering HNC, degree or 5 years’ experience in QMS or ISO9001 (Desirable)
  • Lead Auditor qualification (Essential)
Additional Information:
  • The role may require the individual to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of launch build phases and production demands.
  • There will be some travel in the role.
    • UK – To support the delivery of the site ISO9001 and QMS deliverables.
    • Spain – To support the setup of the facility and then deliver into production.
    • India – Occasional to benchmark processes
