Job Description

Job title: Tenancy Support OfficerGrade: 4Reports to: Team Manager or Senior Project WorkerDirect reports: N/AEnhanced disclosure check required: YesEnhanced and Barred disclosure check required: YesPeriodic Disclosure Checks Required: YesJob PurposeTo provide intensive housing management support to vulnerable individuals and/or families with the intention of providing a successful and sustainable move on and other measurable outcomes.Duties and responsibilitiesHousing Management

  1. Engage with referral agencies to generate referrals for the service
  2. To undertake all appropriate assessments for all potential and actual residents and to review and update these as required.
3.. To complete all documentation including tenure agreements, property inventory, disclosure forms and an application for housing benefit with residents to support and sustain a successful tenancy.
  1. Maximise rent collection, ensuring successful housing and other welfare benefit claims are submitted and maintained, taking a pro-active approach to ensure properties are re-let as soon as possible in line with targets.
  2. Ensure that void time is minimised by taking a pro-active approach to ensure properties are let/re-let As soon as possible in line with targets.
  3. To be responsible for the management of a specified number of properties. A monthly health & safety check will ensure they are well maintained and equipped, that there are no fire or Health and safety risks and that repairs are reported through the maintenance helpdesk. All issues to be actioned and monitored to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
  4. To ensure that properties are adequately equipped, furnished and cleaned, by organising, purchasing or working with others on practical tasks. Where required the cleaning and equipping of properties will be undertaken by the TSO.
  5. Respond to internal or external complaints promptly, challenging any anti-social behaviour and reporting any risks.
  6. Undertake all other appropriate housing management duties as directed.
Support
  1. Maintain contact with tenants in accordance with the requirements of the service. All contacts to be recorded as per NHA contact procedures.
  2. Design and deliver an effective support plan that meets tenants needs and results in a successful move on into independent living.
  3. Actively engage with tenants in issues and decisions that affect them. Achieved through involvement activities ranging from providing information, requesting feedback, consulting, to facilitating participation by the service users.
  4. Develop professional relationships with a range of external agencies that supports the on-going needs of tenants.
  5. Develop a move-on plan for residents at the earliest opportunity, identifying realistic options for independent or more appropriate housing.
General
  1. Engage fully with the direct line manager for the purpose of support, supervision and to escalate any issues as appropriate; also with colleagues/ partners to ensure the delivery of a quality service to tenants.
  2. Meet individual performance targets and contribute towards meeting team performance targets in respect of the service.
  3. Maintain up to date records and produce relevant reports as required. This includes inputting information to appropriate systems as per contractual and Nacro requirements, and producing required evidence and reports in a timely manner.
