Job Description

I am currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity to join Sheffield City Council as a Repairs and maintenance Support Officer! Your role will be to support the wider team with the surveying of domestic properties and diagnosing repair work to work as part of the Housing and Neighbourhood Service.The team carry out a varied role including management of disrepair cases and permission requests from customers to make alterations to their homes.Your duties will involve:

  • Handling permission requests
  • Putting together and providing legal packs for disrepair cases
  • Liaising with the legal team and repair services to ensure works are carried out in a timely fashion
  • Communicating with tenants
  • Handline some lower level cases from start to finish
  • Conducting site visits where required and carrying out a soft touch survey of repairs needed etc
To be successful in this role you will have the below skills/experience:
  • Strong administration skills
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills, face to face and written
  • The ability to visit sites/properties
  • Any experience in housing/legal is advantageous but not essential
  • High levels of empathy and passion for delivering a high level of customer service
  • Able to work on your own initiative, plan and prioritise own workload and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Ability to quickly develop positive relationships with customers and colleagues and work collaboratively with different departments across the organisation
  • You will need to contribute to the planning and organising of your own workload.
The office is based in the S4 postcode of Sheffield with free parking available.There is a requirement for you to carry out site visits to customers’ homes and properties across the city.The team work a hybrid model and this post will spend 50-60% working out on site with the remainder of time either working in the office or remotely at home.The hours of work are full time (37 hours per week - flexitime) there is a generous holiday entitlement.A competitive salary of £24,294 to £26,421 is on offer as well as a host of public sector benefits!
