Job Description

Job Role: Metallurgical Test TechnicianLocation: SheffieldShift: Regular days, Monday to Friday, 39 hoursSalary: Dependant on experience - up to £27,000 per annumMetalis is working in partnership with a busy steel foundry in Sheffield who due to continuous growth are looking to hire a skilled Metallurgical Test Technician on a permanent basis. Working in a hot metal working environment, the main purpose of the role will be to take samples and prepare for testing.Job Duties:

  • Working on the shop floor measuring samples
  • Routine sample preparation including cleaning and polishing for metallurgical examination
  • Carrying out some hardness testing and evaluating results
  • Maintaining and calibrating equipment e.g. micrometres and gauges
  • Inputting information onto database
  • Routine office work
Job Requirements:
  • Materials Science/Metallurgy or Materials based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC.
  • Experience of metallurgy in a production environment preferred
  • Good problem solving skills, analytical approach with good numeracy and literacy skills
Salary & Shift:
  • 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday with early finish on a Friday
  • Between £25,000 - £27,000 per annum
  • Permanent role
