Job Description

Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing’s Skilled Shop Floor Team have been exclusively retained to manage a recruitment campaign for our client Orchid Orthopedic based in the heart of Sheffield’s manufacturing community.Orchid Orthopedic Solutions is a worldwide leader in design and manufacturing for the Orthopedic and medical device markets, including joint reconstruction, spine, trauma, sports medicine, extremities and dental. With 14 world-class facilities located aroundthe globe, Orchid continues to provide others an opportunity to live a better life through the products, services and the way the company conducts business.Their Sheffield facility based off the Sheffield Parkway comprises a Forge, Foundry and CNC Machining and Finishing processes. It employs approximately 230 people and focuses on joint reconstruction, in particular knee and hip joints and also the instrumentsrequired to fit the medical device parts.Additional information on the company can be found atwww.orchid-ortho.comThey currently have a number of Team Leader roles available across various areas of the business including Wax, Cast Finishing, NDT, and Final Inspection / Shipping. Although experience in these areas would be an advantage, they are also looking for enthusiasticindividuals who are eager to learn and develop their career.They are looking for individuals with experience or a desire to work in the following role;Team LeaderKey Responsibilities:

  • Manage and approve timecards within Kronos, on a daily basis
  • Complete return to work interviews
  • Supervise team members in line with company guidelines, e.g.: checking start & finish times, ensuring Company shift patterns in place, managing holiday bookings in line with Holiday Policy/departmental requirements to ensure cover always in place
  • Improving misuse of time
  • Develop team members, training individuals as required and maintaining accurate and up-to-date training records
  • Cross training to ensure adequate cover across all shifts to cover for holidays, sickness
  • Ensure individual productivity monitors are in place
  • Challenge individuals not achieving expectations
  • Praise good performance
  • Be responsible for H&S within the cell, e.g., auditing of equipment, generation/amendment of risk assessments, wearing of PPE and uniforms – carrying out actions accordingly.
  • Issue file notes as appropriate, liaising with the Line Manager regarding potential disciplinary issues
  • Hold annual Personal Development Review meetings with each of your team
  • Maintain and improve 5s standards in the area
  • Ensure monitors are completed (hourly; bar charts etc)
  • Hold daily update meetings with team
  • Highlight issues regarding machine uptime
  • Challenge poor productivity
  • Manage overtime effectively
  • Have action plans in place to address current issues
  • Raise concerns and plans for future issues

Working Hours:Depending on the department are as follows.
