The diagnostic Magnetic Resonance (MR) facilities within this large, acute, adult trust are looking to recruit a MR Physicist. Applications for this post are invited from registered (or close to registering) Clinical Scientists with experience in MR Imaging. As a member of the Radiology Physics Group the post holder will assist in the delivery and development of MR quality assurance, safety advice and delivering high quality scientific support to the multi-centre Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust’s NHS Magnetic Resonance (MR) Services and to other services beyond the Trust.The Directorate of Medical Imaging and Medical Physics presently manage five installed whole-body 1.5T systems, one 3.0T system, with a 7th system being planned. The Directorate delivers all manner of standard and advanced MR imaging including neuro, cardiac, thoracic, vascular, orthopaedic, kidney, obstetric, whole body, quantitative imaging, functional and other services.Medical Physics is one of a small number of academic directorates within the Trust and as such has a vision to deliver world-leading research, with a strong focus on grant income. We work closely with the University of Sheffield and are currently cooperating to support the development of PET-MR in Sheffield, which will be an integral part of our NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. We have a strategic aim to develop intra-operative MR in Sheffield and through our Accountable Care System /STP will be further developing our cross regional collaboration.The emphasis of this post is to support and develop the provision of efficient, high-quality imaging within this major teaching hospital trust. Importance is given to both high patient throughput and the ability to provide world-leading specialist imaging technique.Applicants will possess an appropriate postgraduate qualification, have current registration with the Health Professions Council, and be able to demonstrate considerable relevant experience in the clinical imaging setting.
