Job Description

We have a vacancy for a Line Clearance Manager to join our Arboriculture teamReporting directly to the Service Manager, you will oversee and deliver vegetation management works and other operations on the National Grid and associated Utility contracts.You will have responsibility for a contract delivery area and will develop and maintain the highest standards of operational services. You will manage Line Clearance Supervisors and internal and external field staff to deliver excellent standards of work. Thesewill be delivered as per specification, fulfilling contractual requirements, and achieving budgeted volumes.You will oversee and directly influence the survey, consent, production, and audit processes for the span cutting programme, using both internal and subcontracted staff.You will promote excellent health and safety practice, supporting the Service Manager to encourage a proactive environment of shared learningOther Responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for facilitating consented work in your management area and ensuring it is planned and completed by your Line Clearance Supervisors. You will be satisfied work teams and subcontractors are managed, equipped and motivated to deliver operationsto excellent standards of safety, compliance and efficiency.
  • Plan, price and carry out work within company authority limits or delegate where appropriate. You will retain overall responsibility however and provide regular updates to the tracking mechanisms monitored by the Service Manager.
  • Complete a reasonable proportion of span audits against work completed to ensure practises, processes and standards are correctly applied.
  • Accountable for all operational activities within your assigned area, including management of staff availability, utilisation, effectiveness and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation whilst continuously reinforcing the importance of safety performance and internal company and customer standards
  • Take opportunities to develop customer relationships that may enhance existing and potential new business.
Qualifications and Experience required:
  • Experienced UA5 qualified or equivalent level training
  • Computer literacy/administrative skills (MS Word & Excel/report writing)
  • Aboriculture/Forestry/diploma or other relevant industry qualification would be desirable
  • IOSH (a mandatory training requirement if not already held)
  • Credible track record in Utility Arboriculture
