Job Description

Reed Further Education Yorkshire are working with a Training Provider in Sheffield who are looking for a permanent member of staff to join them as a Functional Skills Tutor. The role will be to teach both English and Maths from Entry to levels 1 and 2.Days: Monday - FridayHours: 8.30am - 16.30pm and a 4pm finish on a friday!Salary: £26,000 Per AnnumJob Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of the programme curriculum by developing a robust scheme of work and innovative session plans.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons for diverse groups or individuals in a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Inspire, motivate and raise aspirations of learners through enthusiasm and excellent subject knowledge.
  • Be pro-active in continuously updating own skills and knowledge and identify any training and development needs.
  • Provide rigorous assessment and effective developmental feedback to learners via robust marking of learners work and structured verbal and written feedback.
  • Consistently deliver good/outstanding teaching and learning to ensure a high quality learner experience and excellent achievement rates.
  • Keep group profiles up to date at all times and use this information to plan sessions that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Value and promote social and cultural diversity, equality and diversity and inclusion. Promote British Values and integrate effectively across schemes of work.
  • Take an active part in the sharing of ideas and good practice within the tutor team.
  • Ensure English and Maths are effectively embedded into the curriculum.
  • Ensure that learners wider work related skills are developed at every opportunity by delivering comprehensive and supportive job search sessions with a focus on developing learner’s functional skills to be more confident in applying for employment opportunities.
  • Support learners with their career and progression planning and advise them on how to access guidance on making informed choices.
  • Support the exam and invigilation process as required.
  • Attend team meetings and 1:1 meetings as required.
  • To support the IQA process and undertake IQA for relevant subject specialism.
Experience and Competences
  • ESFA Study Programme funding systems, methodologies and guidance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted and awarding bodies requirements.
  • Experience of embedding functional skills into all aspects of learning.
  • Experience of delivering effective CEIAG.
  • Ability to work in an demanding and challenging environment.
  • Ability to encourage, inspire, motivate young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and inter-personal skills; and ability to work well as a team.
  • Flexible and supportive approach to working practices.
