Job Description

Permanent and Temporary positions availableBased in Sheffield, South YorkshireCompetitive salary with generous overtime + benefitsOur Installation Engineers work collaboratively across all departments to improve efficiencies across the build, testing, and commissioning elements of our projects.OverviewReporting to our Operations Director you will provide both workshop (design, build, FAT) and site resources during the build, installation, commissioning, SAT and handover phases of a project plus ongoing service, repair, and maintenance of the crane froman electrical perspective.What youll be doing:

  • Carry out electrical control system installation and integration works, as required by the contract.
  • Verify the control system elements of the installation works, have been installed in compliance with the approved design documentation.
  • Set up/configure any Variable Speed Drives included within the control system.
  • Carry out any electrical fault-finding activities required during testing and commissioning works.
  • Carry out control system electrical testing activities from cable testing in order to provide cable test certifications, and initial power-up tests through to final testing and commissioning tests, in line with the control system test and commissioningschedules.
  • Carry out functional testing of the control system and any other Setting to Works activities prior to Factory Acceptance Testing works.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing in line with the FAT documentation for the projects.
  • Support the overall Site Project Manager in delivering the electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities of the crane/moving structure, including the completion of Reports of Thorough Examination (where appropriate) for final handover tothe client.
  • Carry out Site Acceptance Testing, with the client, in line with the control system SAT procedures.
  • Produce Reactive Risk Assessment and Method Statements to cover any changes to site conditions as the installation and testing work progresses.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and identify potential electrical or control system problems.
  • Carry out project modernisation work related to crane/moving structure conversion or refurbishment.
  • Attend breakdowns, identify faults and carry out effective repairs.
What were looking for:Essential
  • Previous experience in the installation and testing of electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with safe systems of work, permit systems etc and knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Regulations.
  • Conversant with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • This role includes the need to work away during our site testing and commissioning activities.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of Machinery Safety Regulations (BS EN 13849-1).
  • Hold current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • PLC/HMI literate to enable testing, commissioning and fault-finding using a programming laptop.
  • Knowledge of control system instrumentation such as Laser Positioning systems, position and speed encoders, safe access systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of Overhead Electrical Travelling Cranes (OHETCs).
