Job Description

Location: SheffieldContract: PermHours: 37.5Salary: Up to £27,000 max per annum depending on experienceBenefits package: 30 days annual leave + bank holidays, 8% employer pension contribution, bonus scheme, flexible working, cycle to work, buy and sell holiday and lifestyle benefits.THE ROLEYou will be responsible for contributing to the Economics team to support its work evaluating the economic value for money of existing and new business growth programmes to Magenta Book standards.You will have first line responsibility, under the guidance of a senior manager, for the procurement, management and publication of evaluations as well as on-going monitoring work.This will entail, helping produce well-designed research specifications that give potential suppliers a clear understanding of our evaluation requirements, working with the Bank’s procurement team to appoint the best value for money supplier available for each project and acting as the first point of contact for the supplier while they carry out their research.You will also contributing to the quality-assurance of the data, methodological plans and research outputs produced by the evaluation suppliers and you will be expected to contribute to the wider work of the economics team through structured problem solving, preparation of presentations in both PowerPoint and Word, and internal / external stakeholder management reports.You will have experience of working on evaluations that use approaches in line with the Magenta Book. This experience can relate to being part of a research team delivering evaluations or managing independent researchers delivering an evaluation for your organisation.You will have experience of collaborating with others on time sensitive projects. This should include an understanding of when to act independently and when to seek guidance from others. Having some knowledge of project management techniques is an advantage.You will have strong written and verbal communication skills including an ability to communicate the implications and limitations of the data or analysis clearly and convincingly to both technical and non-technical audiences.You should have knowledge of SME-finance in the UK and have an appreciation of the finance challenges SMEs are facing as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.You will have a sound understanding of the purpose of the British Business Bank and the environment it operates within, including demonstrated commercial awareness and knowledge of the public policy landscape.For more information on the job responsibilities, please follow the link to the job description on our careers page.ABOUT USThe British Business Bank is a unique and exciting institution.
